#6: Perry Exercised Poor Judgment in Charges against Bernanke

6. Perry exercised poor judgment when he levelled harsh charges against Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke.

A video clip at ThinkProgress captured Perry’s comments about Bernanke:

If this guy prints more money between now and the election, I don’t know what y’all would do to him in Iowa, but we would treat him pretty ugly down in Texas. I mean, printing more money to play politics at this particular time in American history is almost treacherous — or treasonous — in my opinion.

Karl Rove put it politely when he called Perry’s remarks “not presidential.”

The chief investment officer of Vaca Creek Asset Management, highlighted a key concern with Perry’s provocative language on this topic:

Any politician who attacks and wants to remove even a minute piece of the Federal Reserve’s independence is a negative for the confidence investors need to invest in the US.

And, with an already weak economy, that chief investment officer may not be alone in his concerns.
